I want to upgrade my PC, but I don't know what to upgrade first. Here are the things I want to upgrade:

Memory: 512mb DDR RAM
Video Card: BFG FX 5700 Ultra
Monitor: Gateway VX700 (REALLY OLD CRT)

I only use my computer for browsing the internet, and some gaming (The next game I will get is Spore)

EDIT: My MOBO has a PCI-E 16x slot, and my CPU is and AMD 64 3200+

to be quite honest... I'd suggest just saving up for a new build...
I wouldn't pump very much money into such an old machine...
however, you could probably spend a tiny bit of money upping it to 1gb RAM. (which would definitely help system performance, for however long you have that machine)


even if you get a new (agp...) GPU and more RAM, I can't imagine the processor in that machine being qualified for any modern games...

The CPU is an AMD 64 3200+

And my motherboard can use PCI-E

At first, I want to suggest you to upgrade to a...say 7600GT and 1/2GB of ram, but then, a totally new build would last longer. your cpu, is it s939?If yes, a new build is better...

I can use http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?p=A [...] 77ea5179aa with my motherboard.

I don't really need a new video card, because I don't do a lot of gaming on my PC.

Shoul I buy the AM2CPU board and get DDR2 RAM, or just stay with normal DDR, since there isn't a big difference?
