I purchased a HP SR2050NX as second computer. It has a 300w power supply.

Right now, it has 2 SATA harddrives and a DVD-R. I'm running the on-board video.

I am planning on upgrading video cards to a basic 256 or 512mb PCI-E.

My question is whether it would be a good idea to upgrade the power supply and, if so, please recommend one. I'd like for it to be as quiet as possible.

Thank you.

Here is a link to the full specs.

http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?pfp=SEARCH&Ntt=2050nx&N=0&Dx=mode+matchall&Nty=1&D=2050nx&Ntk=All&product_code=341270&Pn=Presario_sr2050nx_Minitower#ts

It has an Intel 820 cpu, 1 Gig of PC-4200 memory (I will upgrade to 2GB, if that makes a difference). Other that the 2 SATA HDs (250 GB each), the DVD-R, media card reader, and wireless internet card -- I'm not sure what other specs matter (sorry!).

I'm not really sure what video card I'll end up getting, something pretty low end -- perhaps a Radeon X1300 256mb PCI-E x16 or 7300 GS 256MB DDR2.

I received my PSU and installed it today. It's just as quiet as my old one and now I can safely upgrade video cards when I need to.

thanks!
