8O [/b]I just bought a 939 FX-60 dual core for the last upgrade to my 939 machine, when I installed it and got my machine going, it only registered at 2.41, so I used my Asus AI booster to push it up to 2.61. The machine runs great, but does anyone know why it would only register as a 2.4 dual core???
Could be that your Bios is not new enough to recognize the FX60...
What is the board, revision number, and what CPU did you previously have?
Does Windows recognize the CPU and using both cores?
I have an ASUS A8N SLI Deluxe 939 motherboard, Windows and Bios both recognized it as a dual core, it runs fine, just only showed 2.41, but with the multiplier at 13 instead of 12 it gives me the whole 2.61, also is there a way to increase the FSB, cause it says it is supposed to have 1000, and it only shows up as 800, weird, I should probably just shut up and flash the bios with the most recent version. ohh and I previuosly had a 3800+, 2.4 single core.
It looks like your motherboard has been used in some overclocking experiments before and your frequency and multiplier settings are all wrong. You may want to try resetting the bios, or even getting a new bios, as you have already mentioned. Perhaps, since you have an FX chip, you could look for an overclocking bios on a website like overclockers.com or something like that.
And if you're asking about the 1000 fsb, that's probably not the fsb that you're talking about, its probably the CPU-Northbridge link, in which case, its a multiplied 200x5 for 1000 and 200x4 for 800. You'll probably want it set to the 800 speed, as under higher frequencies on the clock, you'll be overclocking that chip too. So, say your clocks are overclocked to 250 mhz (for example) and you have it set to 1000. 250x5 = 1250. You'd be running your northbridge WAY out of spec, and those parts often don't overclock as well as a processor. You want the final speed of it to be right around 1000. So, 250x4 = 1000.
I'd post more, but I'm not sure how interested in it you'd be. I found all this information on some overclocker's forum when researching the overclocking potential of my rig. It's not a quote, more of just what I got out of it, I may try to find it if you're interested.
If you were running a 3800+ at 2.4 then you were already manually tweaking a lot of your BIOS settings. I would either use the reset jumper or pop the battery out prior to trying anything else.
I had a similar problem when i went from a 3800+ to a 4800+ with it not clocking properly on a Asus A8N-E, and the 3800+ OC'd to 2.5. Once I reset the BIOS all was well and has worked fine ever since... running at 2.95 for over 2 months and 100% stable.
Sounds like you are running the old original bios on that board. I have the premium model of the same board and when they were first released they would only show 800 (200 x 4) the new bios fixed that and gave you the full 1000 that it should be (200 x 5) Flash your bios and you can start where you should be.
My motherboard was brand new when I got it, it just has plenty of overclocking option in the bios, and with the Asus AI software, I'm going to download the latest version of bios from Asus first, but hey you learn something new every day, I'm always interested in listening to anything you or anyone else who answers my forum has to say.

Check your BIOS. You should have a multiplier of 13. Looks like you have it set at 12. The 200 FSB setting times the 13 will give 2600 mhz. I currently have the multiplier set at 14, which with an overclock gets me to 3010 mhz with ease, though I normally have it backed off to 2968 mhz for a bit lower temp reading. Teh reason that I have the multiplier at 14 is so the ram runs at full speed.
Just reset the bios to default and it should recognize the processor and speed correctly.Do it with the clear cmos jumper on the mainboard as that is the correct way to do it.Goodluck.
