Upon reading and talking with a sales rep that didn't know what a UPS was I had asked if the server I was looking at had a PCI slot for the video server card I have....he stated yes but after reading I have found out it has PCI-x x4,x8 and one standard pci-x slot.....is the rep correct that the PCI card will fit in a pci-x? thanks in advance for any help

PCI-X and standard PCI are cross compatible, BUT if you put a standard PCI card in a PCI-X slot then the whole PCI-X BUS will slow down (not just the one slot)

PCI-e is entirely different and not compatible with either PCI or PCI-X

PCI-e is entirely different and not compatible with either PCI or PCI-X

that too would depend on the PCI card being used.

???

While it's true that the cross compatibility isn't likely to be 100% he should be able to expect just about any PCI or PCI-X card made in this millenia to work.
