i currently have 2 dinosaurs of a monitor that one of them have a max res of 1280x1024 and the other, well, same resolution but anything higher will give me a rolling screen and anything lower also gives me a rolling screen unless i set it to a refresh rate of 30 interlaced. I just saw on a flyer that a store is reducing the price on my current vidcard of x1950pro with a $100 off. will it be worth it? im not planning to upgrade to dx10 in two years time so im thinking that if I crossfired, it can get me high frame rates (or medium frames) at that resolution for the dx10 games .

Buy several 1950PROs. Keep 1 for yourself and sell the rest for a profit. Then you can have money to upgrade to a nicer DX10 card once more of them emerge and the prices drop.

Well if you are just looking to game right now and at that resolution yeah definatly go for it .

I have a x1800 gto and it runs everything gr8 at that resolution although not at that highest settings .

so all in all i would go for it sounds like a good investment keeping your requirements in mind :)

just one thing should be kept in mind the sli will need more power which wil lead to more heat .

But if i were you i really would go for it , to game you do not need the fastest card or processor , but to game at 1600x1200 above resolutions at very high uber settings you do :)

Sorry not meaning to hijack your thread, but................
I am wondering the same thing. Microcenter has the x1950pro for $199.
Although I only have a 19" LCD, would grabbing another one of these for a couple hundred bucks, thats pretty much pocket change, and doing crossfire be worth it? I am really happy the the first X1950pro I bought, and I do like to run with everything maxed, although I am limited to 1280x1024. It does seem that some times things still move a little slow.

Well if you are seeing slower frame rates than you'd like with 1 x1950 pro, go for it - crossfire allows higher AA so you may get a visual boost too.

the X1950 pro does use crossfire 2 - so it may be a couple more catalyst releases until it is working at it's highest efficiency.
