Well a little more research

lifetime may be impossible

The longest hard drive warranty I found was 5 years (seagate)

5 years is almost a lifetime in computer tech terms (one could argue)

Never... won't find a hdd like you said but to be finicky about it... fans, optical drives, cpu will never have lifetime warranties.

psu you can find with lifetime though.

Maybe if one used one of those RAM drives for HDD,and a USB thumbdrive instead of the optical drive. But, doesn't RAM have a limit of cycles? Maybe a military-hardened VIA cpu that doesn't need a fan, and some mini-ITX psus don't have fans either. Hmm...a lifetime with a slow, frustrating computer? 8O

Lifetime in computers is really three years. After three years, it's cheaper to buy a new one than salvage an old one.
