between this two video cards, which one u choose and why ?

GF 7600GT EVGA
560 MHz GPU
12 Pixel Pipelines
400 MHz RAMDAC

Memory
256 MB, 128 bit DDR3
1400 MHz (effective)
22.4 GB/s Memory Bandwidth

or

GF 6800XTREME XFX
Dual 400 MHz RAMDAC

Memory
256 MB, 256 bit GDDR3
1000 MHz
22.4GB/sec. Memory Bandwidth

both of them PCI-Express ..

Avoid the 6800 extreme at all costs!!! See it as an Extreme slow 6800
Go with the 7600gt

7600GT wipes the floor with a 6800XT, all day long.

Are you sure about that ? 6800 is 256 bit, and 7600 is 128 bit, that doesn't sound like the standard XT type that everyone should avoid.

7600GT is still better. Just as good as a X850XT or better.

6800XT should be avoided no matter what.

Seconded.

compare your cards at GPUreview.com

The most important thing to look at is actually the memory bandwidth. That is in a sence your card's processor and how fast the card can process the information.

I have two BFG 7600GT's SLI and I am playing all games at max and am loving it.

Cant beat BFG rebate on newegg.com

Tom's VGA Benches show a 5-10 FPS lead in games for the 7600GT

Really???

Using www.gpureview.com I looked up the 6800XT and the 7600GT. According to that sight, they both have the same memory bandwidth of 22.4 GB/s yet the 7600GT is clearly the superior card. The 7600GTs core (which is it's processor) is clocked at around 560Mhz while the 6800XTs is only around 325Mhz. Per www.gpureview.com

Even with faster GDDR3 memory (1000Mhz) and a 256-Bit bus, the slower core of the 6800XT cannot keep up with the faster core (560Mhz) and faster memory speeds (1400Mhz) of the 128-Bit 7600GT. Those high speeds are what give the 7600GT it's ability to compete with older 256-Bit cards like the X850Pro or an X850XT.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the GTS a GS with GDDR3?
January 25, 2007 12:21:59 AM

The evga 7600gts is exactly the same core and memory speed of the GT. I have my gts overclocked to 595 core and 1500 memory. Picked it up at Microcenter for $99.00 and no rebate to mess with.
