So has the X1800 family been discontinued? Because the prices went through the roof and then the cards disappeared from all existence, meaning of course newegg.com...
i was lucky enough to grab a X1800XT for an 'open box' deal at $200... this thing, with ATi Overdrive enabled, can run circles around the lower-end x1900 cards... such a good price to performance ratio, what happened to the card?

1800XT, aww good times, ATI needed something to compete with the (what was)new 7800GT(which was done on the 120nm processes allowing for very high clockspeeds and bandwidth), then newer tech came out, IE the 7900GTX(Done on the 90nm process) which destroyed the 7800GT and with that ATI needed something hence with the advent of the X1900XTX and the rise of "Shader pipeline 48" really the X1900XTX only has 16 PP

So there my little summary....

uhh, the 1900xtx had 3 shader pixels PER pixel pipeline, resulting in 48 shaders. im assuming you thought the 1900xtx claimed to have 48 pp.

This is a bummer, I was hoping to find a second his x1800gto iceq3 to setup crossfire... oh well. I will keep looking. I am curious as to whether the 2nd x1800gto would have to be the same exact model since it will not be using a bridge cable.

Check this link out. It shows what cards you can use with what method of CF. The first column shows your card, in your case the x1800GTO. The second column says what your "prefered" second card should be. I wonder why they said another x1800GTO, because that means you'd need to use "Software" CF. Last I heard, this is slower then "real" CF. The optional card to use is the one I would suggest getting, the x1800CF card. (actually, don't get that, I'm sure it costs way more then just buying a faster card...) Unless you can get a good deal on either card, don't bother with CF. Get a single x1950 card. (pro, XT, etc) The pro won't be faster, but at least you'll get a single card using less power.
