The inquirer isn't "News".  It's "Specualtion".

I hope AMD can get this stuff out the door.  I'm dying to see K8L.  I hope it's a Conroe Killer.

the INQ is right sometimes....  but i think there are victims to their sources

if a source is wrong...the source doesnt take the hit...the Inq does....

The Inq in this article is just stating that AMD is on schedule...

AMD's 65 nm is 6 months behind schedule and underperforming but K8L will magically be ahead of schedule?

I'd say June is far more realistic.

Lets translate this to summer of 1999 terms....

AMD's K6 3+ is 6 months behind  schedule and underperforming but the ATHLON will magically be ahead of schedule

Everyone knows the first 65nm is shite, so now let's move on and expect the next batches to NOT suck so badly.

Relax - if I had a real problem with your pro-AMD links, they wouldn't be here now.  It's just this constant Inquirer thing ... not your most reliable site - even you'd have to acknowledge that.  I'm not a fan boy, but you are.  So, hopefully, AMD will live up to your hopes and dreams.

Btw, I don't read every thread - so if you posted something for balance, good for you.

Well i visit many forums   and  i dont mind  fanboism...as long as thee is balance...  if i post 5 pro amd links... i will come back and post a few pro INTEL links for balance...

a tru fanboi would never do that ...i see some INTEL fanbois on the net who swear the INQ is gospel...as long as INTEL looks good and AMD looks bad...   otherwise  its trash..

and i do acknowledge the INQ ia rumor mill at best with a dubious track record...but they are right half the time.

So do i. Right now, an E4300 holds my heart, but if AMD says they have something comparable, i'm willing to listen. Just get the damn thing out before i scrounge up the money, and grab the Allendale.  :(

Well, let's hope it's true and the K8L ships in May. However I do hope that AMD is smart enough to learn from Intel's mistake and keep their mouths mostly shut about it until it ships, especially if it's as fast as some have said it will be and if they have much in the way of K8 stock in inventory. We all know what happened to Intel when they did this and I don't think that AMD would fare quite as well, especially after buying ATi. However I don't think AMD will do this as they're in a completely different situation than Intel was. Intel hadn't had a very competitive chip line in about 3 years and needed to do something to keep from bleeding market share. So they said "Look what we have here!" to allay the investors. AMD just landed the Dell OEM contract and ceded the performance crown for a mere 6 months, so they aren't nearly at the point that Intel was at in early 2006.

AMD's not going to do that until shortly before the chips ship. They still have lots of current-gen stuff that needs to be sold and they don't want to pole-ax that. But my guess is if it will ship in May, they'll release the ESes for compatibility testing to motherboard makers shortly if they haven't already. But I guarantee you that any performance figures will be NDA'd until about 4-6 weeks before launch day.

I actually wouldn't doubt that motherboard makers have extremely early silicon now, even if the launch date were in July.  Like I said, June seems like the sweet spot, here.
