DDR Memory

I have an ASROCK P4S61 motherboard with a P4 2.4a. There are 3 DDR DIMM slots and the manual says it can take 3 PC2100, 2 PC2700 or 1 PC3200 sticks. Why? And if this is all I can do, is there any special order such as PC3200 only in slot 1 or 3?

The manufacturer skimped on the design in order to lower the cost of the MB. It probably won't matter which slot(s) you use, but I would use the one(s) closest to the CPU.
