Editted to reflect new load temps.

I OC'ed my E6600 to 3.3 GHz but am getting Core Temps of 62-63 under dual Prima95. How bad is that? What's the max temp I want to hit under full load?

I'm using 3 120mm fans for case cooling (front, side and back) and a CoolerMaster Hyper TX for CPU cooling and I feel like I'm still running hot.

Any suggestions?

Hehe... I was running Speedfan and everytime it hit 50+, it showed a fire icon... which I thought was a BAD thing...

I can't seem to run two instances of Prima... everytime I try to load a second one, it brings up the original window.

I have a E6400 running at 3.2 GHZ with 1.375v

Idle depending no room temp is anywhere from 32-37C and under full load its anywhere from 50-60C.

You have to make one more Folder for Prime 95 and then run it from there.

Ok... I got the processor up to 3.3GHz, but my load temp is now 62-63C. How bad is that?

Its a bit high. I would take it down a notch. I have my e6600 @ 3.6 and it reaches under load 52-55C.

What type of cooling are you using?

Not bad, with the stock cooler with the E6300 mine was at 50c idle and 60-62c load, and its not critical temp; but something may be wrong because i oc to 2ghz with stock cooler until i receive my artic cooling pro 7, but its idle at the same stock speed and 57-58c load ( less then stock ). Pretty weird shit.

I took off the stock cooler and put on Coolermaster Hyper XT using Artic Silver.

Maybe that's why it's running hot? Maybe I didn't put enough on?

I have Swiftech Liquid Cooling.

Swiftech Storm Rev 2 Waterblock
Swiftech MCP655 Pump
HW Labs Black Ice Xtreme II Dual 120mm Radiator
4x Scythe 120mm Fans
Swiftech MCRES-MICRO Reservoir
Tygon 1/2in. ID 5/8in. OD Ultra Soft Vinyl

It is much more common to put too much on rather than not enough. But an OC temp of 63C isn't unusual, so I would say that it is installed correctly.

There different method to put thermal on the cpu, like drop a little in the middle and put the heatsink and slide a bit before clipping or Artic Silver have their method in the support section of their website: http://www.arcticsilver.com/ins_ro [...] elas5.html

Other say that that apply all the cpu surface a paper thin tick. But honestly i dont think it will change something really. Even withou you save what 2-4c.

My idle core temp using stock cooling is 42C and running to instances of Prime 95 its 58C as measured by Core Temp. My signature has the info on my rig. Is this considered high? I may be a victim of too much AS. I've searched the forums but really haven't found much info to compare my setup to.

I dropped the vCore down a notch or two and it seems stable so far and it shaved a few degrees off the temp. My temps are now:

37C idle
61C load

I might stick with this for a while, although... I haven't seen the load WITH the 8800GTX loaded, since it's going to throw off alot of heat.

Would getting a manul fan control help since I turned QFan off?
