I need a fast pci video card for my Athlon 3200+ system. It has a Radeon 9800 right now, but I want one more video card that's fast and DirectX 9 compliant.

Howdy. This post is from Stang from devhardware so I take no credit other than I was going to look this up on that forum for another fella but he saved us some trouble. Thanks StangMang

if your looking for PCI, shop around and you should be able to find x1300 and 6200 cards in pci. As for their gaming power its not going to be spectacular, but it'll be well above typical integrated solutions, should be night and day for you.
If your looking for "modern" pci cards that are based on newer chipsets your going to have to drop about $80+ from what I have seen. Luckily these cards have been taken a bit more seriously since they are required for some older PCs to be able to run vista, so you actually get a decent 128/256mb card with a 128bit memory interface instead of an extremely cut down version like we saw with the fx5200/9200 series. A quick search on newegg yielded these good options:
Jaton 256mb/128bit 6200 - $89.99
Diamond x1300 256mb/128bit - $109.99 (84.99 after rebate)
For PCI these are about your best choice. Maybe some other fellas have even a better option but I agree with what Stang posted. Good luck!
