Athlon XP 3000+ a7n8x problem!

My setup has been working fine for 2+ years and now after moving some of the hardware around and refreshing the thermal paste my asus a7n8x deluxe mobo reads my athlon xp 3000+ as being an athlon 1.3ghz processor. What is the problem???

I'm currently busy searching the backpages of this forum for a thread where someone had the same problem.

Your CMOS just got cleared, and the chip is being run at a slower speed. Goto the advanced configuration menu and set the BUS to 166 and the multiplier to x13. Then you'll have your 2.17ghz clock.

What was it that I did to clear CMOS? Or is it something that just happens sometimes?

Probably hit the BIOS jumper or it could've been the CMOS battery. *shrugs*
