It seems there are issues with drivers for this card, could people who have it running optimally post their driver versions?

Seconded. I can only get the thing working on about half of my games right now; others get artifacts, or crashes. I can't even start to think of optimizing until I actually get it fully working.

The ATI 6.12 drivers worked well for me, but when they came out with the 7.1 drivers my 3DMark05 score dropped from 12500 to 10250.
I then switched to TweaksRS Warcat 7.1 second release drivers and my 3DMark05 score went to 13080.

I had similar problems with an X1950Pro AGP card. I went back to Cat. 6.11 and could get the card to work, but 7.1 was an absolute mess. Only good thing is I know that ATI will tweat this and get a better driver out there ASAP.

I also have a Saphire version x1950xt, great card and have not had any driver issues with it.

One thing to mention, you may already be aware, is to completely get rid of all of the old driver before installing the new one.

I just got the Sapphire X1950XT (blazing fast) and went to ATI site and did the driver selection which they automaticaly put 6.12 as the driver for this card.

This might be the problem if you dont do it. Uninstall the old driver then install the new driver.
