Ok i just got the DQ6 today and surprisingly my 6400 dropped from 36 degrees to 31 so i decided to put a little overclock on it. Nows its at 8x300 for a 2.4ghz cpu. However under Intel TAT it peaks at 70C under full load. Thats tolerable but i want more... So my question is, is there any decent 3rd party coolers that do not require me to install a bracket on the back of the board to brace it? the DQ6 has this crazycool panel on the bottom of the board that i do not wish to remove. Perferably the lower the price the better. Any advice will be very helpful.

yer quite a few do, pretty sure tuniq tower (basicly called best cooler for core2duo) doesnt need backplate, i know that the Artic Cooling Freezer Pro (cheaper option but still very good) also doesnt need backplate.

Hope that helps

the pic of the tuniq tower on newegg has a back bracket so thats off my list. Also, when you're recommending the artic cooling freezer pro, you're talking about the artic cooling freezer 7 pro right? not the 64? any other suggestions?

The Tuniq Tower does have a backplate. The best cooler without a backplate is the Arctic Freezer 7 Pro. It installs just like the stock HSF.
