This camera does sound like it has a lot of problems. I went searching for a network camera almost a year ago, and decided on a Panasonic KX-HCM110A. I wanted to set up the camera in my new baby's room so that I could watch her and so that grandparents (whom live out of state) could look in on her and talk to her. The camera does all the things that Jim wished this Hawking camera would do and more. As a security camera it would be great with low light and sensitivity adjustments It is not an outdoor camera though. It is really meant for indoor lighting. There is a different model for outdoor use/lighting.
At over twice the price of the Hawking, the Panasonic is a bit more expensive, but it gives all the reliability Jim was looking for in the Hawking, plus it gives gimbaled movement, 2-way audio, color night views blah blah blah.
If Jim is really worried about security, I would have him look at a Panasonic. I've been really happy with mine.

Klyndt - Thanks for the suggestion. I hope to have a new camera to try out soon. Hopefully it will meet my needs.
