If you just want the one drive, you could also try an IDE to SATA adapter. I've never used one, so you'll want to read up on a couple briefly to see if there are any serious caveats.
If you go with the adapter - be careful to select the correct one. It sounds like you need to connect a SATA drive to an IDE connection on the MB. The previous message suggest a SATA to IDE adapter and provided a link on newegg. However the device listed as SATA to IDE adpater was for connecting a SATA MB to and IDE drive - just the opposite of what I think you need. You apparently need an IDE to SATA connector - but read the specs to ensure it is the correct adapter.
Also in regard to PCI controller card vs. adapter- do you have an available IDE connector open?
Your motherboard does not have the SATA connector.
Your best bet would be just like Slicessoul said to get a PCI sata controller.
or
Return the SATA HD and get a IDE HD and hopefully they wont charge you a restocking fee. Call them and maybe explain your situation. They might be nice afterall. But since you will bulid your system soon you can keep it.
