Hi,

Just installed a Linksys WAG354G router on my brothers PC and it seems to work fine...to an extent.

Basically when connected via RJ45 directly all is fine. When connected via wireless it cannot access the internet but can access the router. Winows is managing the wireless conection can see the network fine etc. I have MAC filtering enabled to allow the PC to connect and have tried it with them turned off/set to allow all to no avail. Signal strength is excellent as they are only feet from each other at the moment. I simply cannot figure out what the problem could be as I have the same router at home and have a laptop and X360 connected with the same settings and have no problems.

If anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated.

ps: System is running on XP Home w/sp2

thanks again.

If you connect to the router and internal lan equipment is fine. You do not have a valid Gateway. If you can ping outside but can not connect using the named server, you do not have a valid DNS.

Go to a dos prompt and paste the results from:

[code:1:b8d1bbcf62]ipconfig /all[/code:1:b8d1bbcf62]

and

[code:1:b8d1bbcf62]route print[/code:1:b8d1bbcf62]

and

[code:1:b8d1bbcf62]tracert www.google.com[/code:1:b8d1bbcf62]

and

[code:1:b8d1bbcf62]ping 64.233.179.104[/code:1:b8d1bbcf62]

With that info we can tell you where the problem is.
