Vid card problem?

If my OS randomly crashed one night, and i reboot the computer locks up at the mobo screen.. i turn it off and it sits at the mobo screen a few times. i then restarted it again and boot it up, then when the monitor comes up it goes into like the sleep mode.. i did randomly get it to goto the desktop once, but then it crashed again..

any ideas?

Give use your system specs. Is it oc'ed? have you resently upgraded or replaced any parts? Have you scanned for viruses?
