I meant Pentium D.

This isn't the same as C2D or is it? I'm a noob, so I'm not sure.

No a C2D will say C2D in the name. That is a Pentium D. Both dual-core, but the Pentium Ds are junk unless you get an incredible price.

No, there a world apart, the Pentium D is like a mangy, flea infested, sewer dog, and the C2D is like an award winning pure bred.

I thought the AMD Athlon 64 would be better that this Pentium D 3.42 GHZ, but I just wanted to check w/you guys first.

I'm actually not considering a purchase, but I am verifying that our IT guy has done a bogus "upgrade" to my system here.

Can anyone confirm my suspicion?

By the way, this room is snappy!!

I can't believe the response time... You guys are the Core 2 Extreme of the Forum!

It depends on what kind of Athlon 64 it is, most will beat the Pentium Ds, but without knowing the exact kind of cpu i cant be sure.

Depends which A64.

Lower ends probably aren't better. Once you get into the X2s, and 3500/3700+s, then the PD falls behind.

Let's give him the benefit of the doubt and say the worst.

Why are we talking about this anyways? upgrading? building new pc? if so, go for c2d man, no need for old junk

as for your question, pent D > Amd64 pent D < AMDX2 C2D > AMDX2

what happens when you have 10,000 posts? Is that forum PIMP DADDY!

Reply to architecture1

Pentium D sucks but it is dual core. The Athlon 64 is single core, unless it's an X2.
