I sold my 7950GX2 a week ago for 500$ and i'm planning on buying a new card. from what i see, the G80 series are the way to go.

I'm thinking of going with a 8800 GTS, but i want it to last as long as it could (last time i changed my pc was 5 year ago),

I have a 19' widescreen monitor with a native res of 1440x900.

should i buy the 8800GTSo or GTX? or should i wait for 8900s?

Will any of them last a long time with my native res?

also, should i watercool it? as iam planning on getting a swiftech H20-220 ultra and maybe their GPU waterblock with it

any suggestions would be appreciated.

The GTX would be overkill for your system if you wan the best performance. If you are going to wait for the 8900, wait for R600. If the R600 cards don't outperform the G80, you should see price drops and thus you win. If R600 cards perform better, buy one of them and again, you win. If your don't need the best of the best RIGHT NOW, then wait. If you need a card I would recommend the GTS based on your res and CPU. The GTS may not be the best but it still out performs ATi current cards and is cheaper than the GTX.
