I'm a volunteer setting up wireless internet access for a charity office and rental meeting room. I don't know what equipment the folks who rent the meeting room will have, so I'm thinking of maybe a USB access point in addition to wireless--or is there a better idea?

I'll need a wireless router next to a DSL modem, then either wireless or ethernet to the nearby computer, and wireless to the meeting room on the floor above, plus USB or whatever in the meeting room. Building construction is typical wood frame.

My criteria are:
1)...stability. I need it to connect every time.
2)...reliability. I don't want junky equipment.
3)...low cost.
4)...speed.

Your suggestions for equipment and help for my first wireless setup would be greatly appreciated.

Most any laptop manufactured within the last 2-3 years should have wireless built in, so you should be pretty safe there. I'd just get a wireless router and have one or two long ethernet cables available in case someone needs them.
