Strange audio problem

Hello, my friend is having a rather odd problem with their sound. Basically, audio only plays in Windows Media Player. IE, Firefox, Winamp, etc. does not work at all. I can't think why this would happen, any ideas?

That's awfully strange since with IE and Firefox he's probably using WMP as the playback app. For winamp...volume minimized? Muted?

Try temporarily uninstalling WMP, or indeed upgrading to WMP11. What about Real media or QuickTime?

Weird isn't it? I can't think why only one programme would produce sound, I'll ask them about upgrading WMP/muted audio.
