enthernet problem

The name is Ethernet and Ethernet is how the data is sent across the wire(The Format as it were), Have you made sure you're using a Cross over cable and not normal straight through cable or if you are using a Hub you are using straight through cable?

Could you please explain more about your setup.

You can setup Interent connection sharing with 2 networks cards on one computer and a crossover cable to the other computer's network interface card, but I would recommend purchasing a router and setting it up between the modem with a straight thru cable. Then add two straight thru cables for the 2 computers. Manage your password, id and other settings directly by logging into the router.
Routers are not that expensive. You can choose a wired router in your case. They also sell wireless routers, which have both wired and wireless.

in the tray bar i checked out the local area connection and it says
"connection is limited"
so whats the problem?

i dont get it, where to type the //<ip addr> ?

1.i cant use my internet in my second computer
2. I cant play(connect) in LAN games

but i can share data's now
n wait im using old fashion dial by now.

i like to play lan games with my sister but i cant connect the two computers.
i want to surf internet/play online rpg's with my sister n cousin
but when i connect the main computer ,the other one cant connect to internet.
