I have an Asus P5WD2 motherboard which i recently set up sata raid1 on.
I have a total of 2 harddrives - the ones in raid.

My DVD+RW drive is hooked up to the ATA100 connector, not the ata133. It worked perfectly before i switched to raided hard drives.

The bios sees the drive correctly as being hooked up to Master on IDE0.

I can boot from the DVD drive when there is an OS disc in it, but as soon as windows loads, the system pretty much has no idea that it's even got ata100 capabilities.

The DVD drive does not show up in disk management, nor does it show up in My Computer.

When i switched to RAID, heres what i did -
Ghosted my main hdd to a borrowed hdd of the same size.
Installed 2nd sata drive & built the array (the drives are identical).
Ghosted from the borrowed hdd back to my raid1 array.
Could not get windows to boot - did a repair install, pressing F6 to load RAID drivers upon prompt.
Windows did a repair install off of a cd which was IN the drive which is now not working.
The system boots now, everything works perfectly except for the part about not seeing the DVD drive.

How do i fix this? Please don't tell me ASUS made a motherboard where you cannot use the ATA100 connector while you have sata raid. that would be friggin' ridiculous, and would require the b***h-slapping of a few engineers IMO.

I'm going to go ahead and re-state that the dvd drive is NOT hooked up to the ATA133 raid-ide connectors. it is hooked up to the ata100 connector, which is located up near the floppy connector; just like it's supposed to be.
