Hello all
guys I'm really confused, I'm looking for gaming laptops and I get confused when it comes to graphics card
I found laptops with ATI X700 - 256 MB and another one with ATI X1600 - 256 MB
I can't really decide which is better, I read article about GeForce naming cards which can really help me determine the class of the card (gaming, business,..etc)
Sometimes I find graphics cards with high memory but they tell me that it's not suitable for gaming, I really can't know which is better
the X*** series is the generation behind the X1*** series. I'd go with the newer tech for gaming. but if you were to play games like WoW... the x700 will do JUSt fine
if you can, I'd recommend going for a x1700, as it seems to cost the same as the x1600 (at lest here in Australia)
I have a x1600 pro, and i am very impressed considering it is on the budget/mainstream border. back when i was playing oblivion i only see it go down to 5 fps near a portal (keeping in mind the 1600x1200 with aa and most settings approaching full - yes i was shocked).
Well the only difference in the cores would be for overclocking and slight power/heat improvements with strained silicon. The miniscule boost in the core speed isn't worth the difference from the start, and not worth hunting for IMIO, but if you've got both options easily accessible for the same solutions (like and ASUS or ACER laptop) then sure o with the MRX1700, but in general very little difference.
The biggest thing to watch out for with these is that many of the OEMs underclock the cards to improve battery life and reduce heat, so sometimes you'll see wildly different results from the same chips, and unexpected wins.
