Was my CPU cooler worth it?

I have a Masscool 90mm ball CPU cooleLink and my temps are:
Core 0: 30 idle-40 Load
Core 1: 38 idle-42 Load
These seem a little high to me, and the temps are jumping around constantly. I'm wondering if I have a problem I can fix. I used the thermal paste included, maybe should have bought another. On the bios I set low to 25* and and shutdown high to 60*. A few other details were changed but I'll have to check bios if I need to. My case has 1 120mm on back and 80mm on the front.

I just need to know if these are average temps so I can have peace of mind. Was this $11 fan any better than intel HSF? Should I buy another?

Seems fine to me. To be honest it doesn't look much different to the intel stock cooler, which is pretty good anyways.

Those temps are fine. having said that if you invest in a higher end air cooler you will see lower temps than that ;p
i can recomend the zalman 9500 or 9700 series
arctic freezer 7 i hear is good
or the scythe ninja cooler i hear is good too ;p

Id say that you probably did waste your money though, i cant imagine that the stock cooler would perform much differently than your masscool. But at a cost of $11 you cant go to far wrong ;p
Id say that your temps are well within acceptable norms, but if you do want them lower any decent high end air cooler will drop them by at least 5 degrees probably much more.
