hi guys, i'm new here, yada yada

anyways i'm really excited about this new technology, a cpu having more transistors than an R600. they have claims of a "1.86GHz 45nm quad-core desktop processor running Ubisoft's Rainbow Six Las Vegas game under Microsoft Vista"

please post what you guys think.
especially in relation to AMD's response, cause they seem to be falling behind a bit, and without competition prices are going to kill us consumers.

Higher transistor count does not mean that it is superior in performance.

Higher transistor count does not mean that it is superior in performance.

quite true, but for a 1.86GHz 45nm quad core to be able to run rainbow six vegas under vista suggests that it's power is quite comparable to that of a R600 gpu.

Uh, CPUs and GPUs can't really be compared. CPUs are jacks-of-all-trades, masters-of-none, while a GPU is highly specialised. Besides, I'm pretty sure that the Quad Core was running Vegas with a GPU as well...
