a little while ago, i had to burn like 20 cds in a row. after about the 16th cd, my burner freaked out and stopped working.

ever since then, the burner has been able to READ cds and dvds fine, but i havent been able to burn any media. it always says insert a blank disc (i have tried many different kinds of blank cds, it rejects them all).

is it possible that my i could have destroyed the laser in my burner? if not, could something else fix it?

Generally speaking, burners are disposable. Get a new one. You could try putting it in a different machine just to be sure it's broken, but I doubt there is anything you could do, or anything it would be worth doing.

you could check to see if there is a new rev of firmware for it, it's kind of like bios. Odds are that the write head has become dirty or damaged. I have seen CD-drive cleaner disks, that is another option to try before getting another drive.
