Have multiple WAP54gp's. Have upgraded fw to 1.28. AP has one SSID 'PUBLIC' (for guest access) (listed first on the wireless page) w/no encryption. AP has second SSID 'PRIVATE' (for private access) w/encryption. I have triple-checked security settings for both--public shows encryption DISABLED, but Windows reports upon 'choose wireless network' that PUBLIC SSID is WPA encrypted. (PRIVATE is also WPA encrypted, as it is supposed to be.) PUBLIC can only be connected to using PRIVATE's WPA PSK key.

I have found, I think, that on PC's that are not aware of the PRIVATE network, PUBLIC properly displays as unencrypted. (Only on a PC with both PUBLIC and PRIVATE listed in Windows WLAN settings screen do I have the problem.) Anyone know if this is a Windows issue or a Linksys issue? Anyone else seen this behavior?

This behavior occurs on all of the 5 units that I have.

Any help or concurs are appreciated!

Odd problem sounds like MS has cached some pages or is ref to the MAC address. Does it have a single MAC address?

See if you can make the Privite SSID NOT Brodcast the ID.

This should correct the problem. Then add the connection info into the work stations that will use the private.
