Hi, I'm a novice computer person so I was wondering if you guys can help me out.

My dad watches streaming TV video from Korean websites, which also have a lot of flashy ads. If you work Internet explorer too much (closing and opening more than 1 window too fast) it totally stalls for a few seconds. (doesn't refresh screen). Sometimes the connection seems slow too.

He has a Sony Vaio VGC-RB42G. Which as an onboard Intel Media Graphics Accelerator 900. 1GB RAM. We run on a wireless-g network.

Part of the problem is the wireless-g adapter. Dlink gwl-g120 which fluctuates in signal strength. I'm switching to a linksys.

Would adding a PCI video card help at all? Something cheap is preferable - maybe around $40. I was thinking about Nvidia geforce 6200tc. He doesn't play any games.

Or should add ram?

Is there another problem? He has firewall software. I've cleared spyware.

Thanks in advance!

Intel Pentium 4 3 GHz
Chipset Intel 915 G

Is this processor too slow for the usage?

I actually use a similar machine on the same network, but with multiple upgrades. 1.5GB RAM, powersupply, geforce 7800GT

I never have issues when i open a lot of windows. Although I don't open these websites and watch streaming video, I am able to run Photoshop, Illustrator, and a 3d program at the same time.

I appreciate your reply mpilchfamily. perhaps its the network? the dlink is a terrible adapter.
