I am using the micrsoft reader add in for word to create some simple
ebooks.
Rather than use Word's table of Contents mechanism, I am simply
inserting bookmarks into the text and hyperlinking to them from the
front of the document to form a contents page.
This works very well!
The problem is, when I choose TABLE OF CONTENTS on my ipaq version of
microsoft reader, it jumps to a point about 10% of the way into the
document.
Is there any way I can get the TAVLE OF COTENTS menu selection to go
to MY contents page? Can I do it with a bookmark? Does it need to be
called anything special?

Hi Al!
I have no problems creating a working TOC using the MS Word add-in, and
all I do is make each chapter marker as a Heading (1, 2, or 3) then use
the Insert->Reference->Index and tables->Table of Contents wizard from
the menu bar at the top of MS Word. It works wonderfully well that way,
without using bookmarks or trying to do manual hyperlinking. Name each
chapter marker something meaningful (i.e. Chapter 1, Chapter 2, ... )
and let 'er rip!
HTH,
Hog

Hey Hog!,
ULP! Lost me already!...
When you say Chapter Marker, you mean at the beginning of the
document? OR do you mean the Heading at the start of each chapter?
What do you mean by 'make it a heading?'
Sorry if Im being a bit obtuse.....

Sorry for any confusion, Al.
There are various fonts and styles in MS Word, and in order to make a word
or group of words into a "header", you select it (or them) and use the drop
down menus from the toolbar Format->Styles and formatting...-> and select
Heading 1 (or 2 or 3... up to heading 9). Once your selection has been
marked as a header, you can use the Insert->Reference->Index and tables->
Table of Contents wizard from the menu bar at the top of MS Word.
MS has some tutorials on how to do this, and you can get to the tutorial by
pressing F1 and then typing in "creating a table of contents" and pressing
the green "go" arrow. The tutorial is quite good!
Best of luck,
Hog
