New system build list

well this is going to be shorter than the previous message i had typed before the cookie reset and i couldnt submit

looking for some feed back on a machine im going to be building, the first one i have had in over a year really.

mobo:
ABIT KN8 SLI NF4SLI 939

processor:
AMD Athlon 64 FX-55 San Diego 2.6GHz Socket 939

memory:
OCZ Performance 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel

video card:
XFX PVT71JYHE9 GeForce 7950GT 512MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP ExTreme Edition Video Card

note that obviously i havent listed EVERY part, just the guts as i am i true hardware and gaming enthusiast and still have a monitor, cd rom, and other basics. i will be using a 550w psu sli ready so power should not be an issue. thanks for any feedback

From all the reviews i have read (trying to put my own config together) the AMD FX isn't a good chip and the E6600 out performs it so you may want to plan a Intel build i believe the E6600 is cheaper than the AMD FX iirc.

Great setup, but it'll be a dead-end road.

for the same amount you're spending there, you can get a core duo 6400, 2gigs of 667, and a gigabyte DS3 mobo, and you'll have a bit more HP under the hood so to speak, shop around...

that is great setup although it doesnt allow you for much upgradability however i would pick the 8800 GTS over the 7950

Thats an awesome machine! If you bought it over a year ago (minus videocard). You can do much better then that, I will direct you over to my budget gaming pc guide , considering I don't know how much you are willing to spend. Although if you decide to get the components from my guide, I strongly recommend sticking with 2x 1GB of memory.
