I was reconfiguring my network, because my computer likes to forget when the power goes out, and accidently messed the bridge I created...Now, I cant delete it, nor can I get my network back to normal. In network connections it says "Network Bridge 3 Network Cable is unplugged", I don't have a NB 1 or 2 and there are no connections attached to the NB. I'm running XP on a p4... Any ideas on how to get this thing gone?

I had a friend who had an XP comp that had 2 NICs. Somehow XP setup a bridge automatically, but he didn't need it. I disabled one of the NICs and then I was able to right click on the bridge and choose disable. This removed it from showing up as unplugged.

Windows also has a bad tendency to mess up the hardware profile. This will happen often during power outages or OS crashes. Go to Add/Remove Hardware in Control Panel, select uninstall a device, and on the next screen make sure to check the box for "show hidden devices". Scroll until you see the NIC's and look for duplicate entries. If you have say a Netgear NIC and an Intel NIC you'll see these devices multiple times with a number after them. Delete all but the ones that are active (usually the one with the highest number) and that may solve the problem.
