Set Wallpaper using %logonserver% in policies

Hello,

I have a W2k3 Domain with some W2k and Wxp clients. I force a specific
desktop, and don't allow clients to change it.

I have 3 site across slow network connections (128Kb) with BDC's with AD
replications in every site, and i want the clients to load the wallpaper
from the local server, the server i force them to logon firstly.

I use "%logonserver%\share\public\wallpaper\desktop.jpg" in the "user
configuration\administrative templates\desktop\active desktop\active
desktop wallpaper".

This part of the policy works well in Wxp, but it doesn't apply to W2k
clients.

I've read somewhere in the web that w2k doesn't extract the value of
variables when reading the policies...is this true? Is there a way to do it?

Hi Paulo,

You can try to use OU to organize your user objects according to physical
locations and set the policies with explicit server names.

Wouldn't he be able to use a Site 'based' policy for this?

Without knowing his AD structure, it is better to recommend using OU, I
think.
