I just ordered my parts from Newegg and will be putting them together as soon as I can. I want to make sure that all components are OK. Is there a way to put things together to test them without actually having them installed properly in the case?

Thanks. David

Bump! Someone must have tested their newly built computer.

I want to make sure that I find out if a component has a problem before it's too late to return to Newegg!

Install the CPU and RAM plug in the PSU and turn the PSU on and to see if the lights on the mobo are on and the fans are spinning. If they are, install the mobo in the case and try the video card. If you can into the BIOS, you're good. Then install everything else. You can still run into problems but it's a way of checking you CPU, RAM and video card. Or you be an optomist and put the thing together and if doesn't work and everything is plugged, tear it apart and start again. It's part of he fun of building :D
