I have a Silverstone LC14M HTPC case using a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L motherboard, Intel Q6600. The blue HDD activity LED is obnoxiously bright. Can I put a resistor in series with the LED to reduce voltage/brightness of the LED. What value or range of values would you suggest. Is it possible to use a variable pot to give flexibility and eliminate the guesswork? I appreciate any input.

Use duck tape and cover the LED up.

Or just don't look at it.

Or put lights in the basement.

I tried the mood lighting but was distracted by the light and lost focus, as for the pace timing I found it hard to keep up. I also tried wearing sunglasses while watching the TV but that was not satisfactory so I'm back to the hope of dimming the LED before I just unplug it. Any constructive thoughts?

Just buy some coloured plastic film, cut a little bit of it and then stick it on. Cheap and simple affair.
