I built my new computer, installed everything including my old hd. When I went to boot up, it showed the Windows XP logo for a second, then restarted my computer. I thought maybe I needed to reinstall Windows, so I found my CDs and began installing there. During the installation, it comes up "Starting up Windows" then I get a blue error screen that tells me to check for viruses or check my hard drive.
I called up Asus tech support and they told me to install a sata raid controller, but that can't be the only problem because I went to a local computer store and tested out a brand-new IDE hard drive and got that same error.
Any ideas of this problem? Thanks for your help.

If it's occuring on 2 separate drives, it's not a software issue *ahem MrsBytch*.
Does it give a stop number? Such as Stop 0x0000007e.
If so, I would check www.microsoft.com/technet to see if they have a known issue.

Also, www.google.com is a very useful resource.
Best of luck =)
