I recently built a new system and I need help with reducing its noise. I am willing to go water cooled if that is what it will take, but would prefer the option that will cost the least to accomplish it. I haven't measured the decibels, but although its extremely really loud, the higher pitched noises its making it are bothering me. Do you think replacing the case fans with quiter models that the MB (or a fan controller) can control the speed of
CM Stacker 830 Evo. (Right now I am just using the fans that came with it.) One on the 4 in 3 hard drive module on the front taking in air and an exhause fan in the rear.
EVGA 680i (I have the chipset fan on. Think this is one of the main culprits i think. I tried running without it, because it supposedly optional, but temps shot up from 45 at idle to 90.
E6600 (I have a tuniq tower 120. I have it set to the lowest setting via the rear pci slot control knob)
GTX 8800
CM Real Power Pro 850
2 WD 150g raptor raid 0
One other weird think. My CRT makes a high pitched noise since ive hooked it up to the new system. Its not very loud, but annoying. Anyone else run into this with old CRT on new cards?
The Stacker has lots of opening so that's probably not helping the situation.
