Hi everyone, I'm new to this excellent forum.

Alright I got this MSI 7950GT 512MB, normal idle load = 60*c, while running Company of Heroes max settings it was ard 80*c.

Using 93.71 Forceware atm. What i'd hope to know is if i'm able to tweak my 7950GT's FAN speed?

Would i get into deep shit with my card going at 80*c ?

80 degrees under a load is not putting your video card in danger, of course the cooler the better. If the temps start to get in the high 80's then you should really start to keep an eye on it. Does your case have good air flow through it? Programs like Riva Tuner and Ntune can help if you want to change the fan settings, but check with your video cards manufacture to ensure it will not effect your warranty.

I have Leadtek 7950 GT and the idle temp are 57-60 and load 70-73(i monitor when i am playing with NVtemp)and it will tell you the exact temp that you have when you are in the game. Not when you are out because temp will drop 1-5 grades in the first second that you quit de game(or ALT+TAB-it).
So 80 C is a little to much...but the Card can handlle 130 C..So if you dont have a good air flow and the case temp is to high will effect the GPU temp and rest of the system ofcourse.

Thx for the replies XFX and Dragos.

Yup I've got good air flow.
I did try Riva tuner, i maxed out the fan speed to 100%, should the card react and drop in temp within the first 5 mins? Still stayed at the 60*c idle mark from what I saw tho.

Did the load temp change at all? Like I said before 80 is not a terrible temp, but it wouldnt hurt if you can get it a few degrees cooler.

I stopped using Riva tuner... got Ntune instead and it works.. it lowered my idle load to about 56*c. Just one problem tho, I cant seem to make the fan settings stay. For eg, I set it to 105% fan speed, but some time later it reverts back to its default.

Is it some power saving mechanism or something?
