UPDATE ** LIST EDITED 2/1/07 @ 7:17PM EST

Updated the list, with suggestions. This came out to be more expensive than what I had originally planned. Someone help me cut the price? If possible....

You cant use DDR ram with a C2D, DDR2 is the only option. For the mobo i would get either a P5B Deluxe, Gigabyte DS3, or an Abit AB9 Pro. A great gfx card that wont make your credit card sob tears of blood is the 1950xt, there about $250 and are about on par with the 1900xtx performance wise.

i'm so glad i came in here first! lol

What would you recommend for ram that's a good value right now and has relatively good performance?

when you said 1950xt you refering to this one?

There was actually just a price drop, and most ram is considerably cheaper then it was like a week ago. I would get this ram, same stuff ive got and its about $30 cheaper then when i bought it (like a month ago). If you really want to go cheap this is pretty much the cheapest 2gb PC-6400 set you can get.

Yeah, thats the video card im talking about, but i would get the HIS version, my original 1950xt (the Sapphire version) had a crap fan, so i RMA'ed it and got the HIS version. Works fine so far.

You could save about $50 is you dropped the cpu down to an E4300, you said you might oc a little bit, and getting an E4300 to E6400 speeds is childs play, seriously. For a mild oc like that you would only have to raise the FSB, no insane memory tweaking, no volt modding, no screwing around with the vcore, just crank the FSB and monitor the temps.
