I have recently purchased an Asus Crosshair motherboard(590 sli socket AM2). I am going to be installing the motherboard and I want to know first of all if the current ram that I have is compatible and secondly what ram is best for this motherboard and my other components. I currently have an AMD Athlon 64 X2 (W) 4600+ 2.4 GHz processor, a GeForce 7900 GS KO 256mb video card, 2GB of pc2-4200 DDR2 ram, a 580watt power supply, and I have XP Media Center Edition. I also recently purchased another identical video card to install. I appreciate any advise as this will be my first motherboard install. Thanks

The RAM you have will work just fine.
However: if your in a spending mood; you might consider some pc-6400. AM2 likes the xtra bandwidth. Otherwise, your pc-4200 will be A-OK.

Thanks, I think that I'll get some 6400 ram but is there a difference between PC2-6400 and PC-6400....and which one do I need?
