I started to watch a Nicole Kidman movie, "The Other" last night on TNT, which
is my basic cable channel and at the beginning it says, "In HDTV where
available". I looked at it and can't honestly say it was in hd, as compared to
my other hd channels. ..but what do they mean 'where available"? Thats a
pretty vague statement.

Your cable company may not have a deal with TNT yet. Comcast in Albuquerque
doesn't (yet).

TNT-HD is not the same "basic Cable" channel. It is on the digital tier,
and an HD channel.

In Austin, TNT is on a different channel than TNT-HD. They play the same
schedule though I think. You can DEFINITELY discern between SD and HD
though, so you surely were watching SD. Contact your cable provider for
info on how to get HD channels (assuming you have an HDTV).

Is tnt-hd show anything in true anamorphic hd widescreen. Besides the western
conference nba playoffs, everything looks stretched on that channel.

You also need an HDTV receiver.
