Just for reference, the product is here on Newegg:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813128017

On the product specifications, it says Memory Standard: DDR2 800
But I want to be able to put 2GB of PC4200 in and save about $200. Will this mix be compatible? Anyone have any first hand experience?

In reality, all I am looking for is a cheap LGA 775 motherboard that supports C2D and can take PC4200 memory. The Gigabyte developed an early reputation among C2D adopters, and so that's why I've settled on this one.

Thanks in advance.

yes 533 ram will run just fine, its actually the speed u need to run core 2 duo at 1:1 or 2 but u should get 667 ram even uf ur not goin to overclock so that u have a little bit of future proof ram
