Hi.

My wife is entering the field of graphics design and photo editing, and I am building her a rig for her graduation present (then I dont have to share mine  ) . I was wondering what are the best options for 2d graphics and such projects. Would a gaming vid card work? I never really researched anything other, but I do know there are industry spefic cards out there.

Programs used are photoshop, other adobe products, uhm, macromedia flash. I plan on getting a good asus mobo with core duo, raid 5, anten 9 case, PSU still need to research, 2 gig of corsair xms ram. Sound, something simple from creative.

Sound's like you'd be better off just buying a Dell or HP or something. A Dell with a E6300 with chew threw anything she'd be doing in photoshop in no time. Is there anyreason you need things like Raid 5 and XMS ram?

Why would you suggest a dell? Why not just use equivilant/better parts to a dell and pay half as much money and have a better computer?
