Just reading the specs and it says "can fit all video cards less than 8" in length" Dont think you'll be fitting any DX10 cards in these cases my friend.

Perhaps he can put any DX9 card now and wait for G80's/R600's family (8600GT etc....) to arrive.Hope they're much smaller than 8800GTX, or even 8800GTS

They will be appearing sometime around Cebit in mid-march so we will see them then, in the meantime everyone should upgrade to full-tower  . As far as length...AMD has already said the top of the line r600's are going to be the same size as the 8800series. (Sorry, no link, I'm unable to find the article again)

I have a vista rig now and let me just tell you this 1 gig of RAM is okay for vista basic. but vista home premium i suggest waiting for the two gigs. the resources alone on premium can take 480Mb to 750mb easily just running media player or itunes. 2 gigs will allow vista to consume almost half your memory and allow you to still run your programs as full speed

Yeah, he mentioned that he wanted a rackmount. He's got a point...I mean, how many people do you know that have rackmount PCs in their computer rooms? That's pretty badarse.

lol yea i have some Panasonic Surround sound speaker set ( its ok )

i found the 3800 X2's are really cheap on newegg- cheaper then the 165
so i might just pick up the X2 OEM

- Tacos r awsome :D

I know aren't they

But personally I would go with the x2 3600 (oem is $69 bucks) with an am2 mobo and the cheapest (like $60) 2gb kit of ddr2 you can find. The windsor cpus oc higher if that appeals your, and they cost less if that appeals to you also, so I would check that out. That, or get a single socket f board so you can drop in a barcelona quad down the road

The problem is with those speakers I'm talking about, they cost a crap load from the start, and then you are supposed to have them put in ahead of time since they require quite a bit of modding to your walls. Very nice concept if you have the dough though

PS: I don't know if you remember or not, but you had helped me with a cpu thing when I first joined toms wayyy back, so it's kinda nice to return the favor

:D

that AM2 idea doesnt sound to bad at all

thanks! will keep thread updated as i go along

( thx taco ! )
