The Wall Street Journal (sub required at site) reports: "The suit, which seeks class-action status on behalf of Dell shareholders ...the suit asserts, Dell was receiving as much as $1 billion a year in what the plaintiffs characterize as "secret and likely illegal" kickbacks by Intel to ensure that Dell use no other chip supplier."
I post this since someone here suggested I was making up stuff about Intel possibly doing illegal stuff to prevent competition previously. Eventually, perhaps after the Intel lawyers have done all the delays they can, someday, we'll learn more about what happened exactly, but regarding just the kickbacks, it's alleged also (by AMD) that kickbacks occured at other OEMs to limit the production of AMD based computers to certain percentage limits.
[Edit: Just saw the other thread on this here also.]
