I have been asked to buy and setup a wireless router for a friend so that they can share broadband internet around the house. From experience I will probably fo for a Netgear or Belkin router, something like that, but I'm wondering if I should get one of the newer pre-n routers, or one of the older MIMO-types? Price is an issue, I'm hoping for something around £50 UK pounds. Any suggestions appreciated, thanks.

You haven't given any specific requirements so anything should work. For that amount, you probably can't afford a pre-N router even if you wanted one. If all they're doing is sharing an Internet connection, you really have no need for more than about 5-10mbps of bandwidth, so any of the standard 802.11g routers should work. There's really no point in buying pre-N unless you really need it for something right now. Otherwise it's best to wait until the spec is actually ratified and you can count on stuff you buy to work with equipment from other vendors.
