I am running Windows 7 Build 7077 and am wondering if there is anything new in 7100 that would be worth a fresh install? I don't want to bother if all we are getting is a new icon or two.
I wouldn't expect a great deal of difference as there aren't many builds in between. I still have build 7000, I'm more interested in the difference between that and 7100
Supposedly it has XPM, the Virtual XP thing mentioned in the news article on here.
Nevermind......
This feature is not available in the Windows 7 Release Candidate, which was leaked as a torrent this week and will be officially available on May 5. Instead, it will be a separate download that runs only on certain editions of Win7.
From what I have been reading, i won't notice any difference at all between the 7077 build and the RC build. that being said, i'll just wait for the public release May 5 to mess with it.
Not sure, didnt run th other beta i went from vista to 7100
the jump was a blast; so many newly added features/ the performance is astonishing and the reliability is something i didnt expect quite so early...
its not ok with the forum to tell you where, but you obviosly know where to HUNT untill you get the right one... toms hardwares been saying for at least a weak that there is a corrupt version out there.
and yeah, i was hoping to see how they implemented the XPM... seems kinda wierd considering that it runs so well already, adding that feature could potentially slow performance
still, its a big improvement on vista, as well as the uac, it picks and chooses specific times to give you the whole black screen, and such. now those are for more serious changes. (i dont know if this was in the beta...)
I did the upgrade from build 7077 to the RC the other day. No problems so far. Just so everyone knows, the RC allows upgrades from build 7077 without any tweaking just like it was upgrading from Vista. I had to uninstall my ATI catalyst drivers and adobe reader (as prompted by the install process). It was all easy as pie and running smoothly. Don't notice any real differences in terms of performance etc. Maybe a bit quicker to start up, but a bit slower to settle down and get my first program launched (almost always firefox). Only other difference is some more desktop themes (the new trippy ones).
