which one are the beast in standard performance, overall features, and bugs free?

will use to overclock e6600 up to 333mhz so no need for top performance overclocking motherboard.

thanks in advance..:)

The Abit AB9 QuadGT is such a nice board cant wait to install this puppy! ;) it's cheaper than the commando iirc.

let me know the pros and cons when you review abit ab9-quidgt, okay? :)

The QuadGT is a very nice board & at least in the UK is significantly cheaper.
I suspect that all these new 965 mobos (Commando, QuadGT & the Rev 3.3. Gigabytes are all going to perform similarly).

that's a relief.. :)

Should also look at the Gigabyte P965-DQ6 which is similar to the QuadGT, but has been out longer with more bios releases. I wouldn't go with the Commando.

all asus and gigabyte motherboards don't have Digital PWM on their phase power which is somethin i'm looking forward to. :D

if asus p5b deluxe wifi/ap and or gigabyte p965-ds4 have that Digital PWM i would love to take a chance on one of them. it will be a perfect motherboard to my eyes..

cheap and great ocer, this seems like a job for the gigabyte ds3, it oc's to above 400fsb, more than you need, and it is cheap as dirt

I've just switched from a DS4 to the QuadGT.
The DS4 is a nice board but abit's hardware monitoring/fan control is way ahead of any other imo (not perfect though) & it has 6 fan headers v 3 on the DS4.
Onboard power, reset & external clearCMOS all very handy as is the LED POST reporter.
Performance over 400fsb is better due to not switching straps (perhaps the rev. 3.3 GA will stick to the 1067 too - I don't know).

& I'm an abit fanboi

guess the bugs can be fixed with future BIOS revision.. i think i'm gonna love this board so much! :D

Yes, revision 1 had a few errors here and there, but 2 fixed that, and 3.3 allows for 1333fsb compatibility and quad core support

btw, what cpu are you using right now? and from your point of view, how high can e6600 do with this board with supertalent ddr2 800 c4? :)

oops.. you're talking about DS3, i thought it was abit ab9-quadgt. my bad.. :P

will it be any different with revisions on gigabyte's pcbs? i mean can the old one still able to do the 1333 with BIOS update? and will abit's board can support the 1333 cpu too in the future?

i'm not planning to change motherboard often. hope the p965 chipset will handle 45nm too just with later BIOS update.. :D

I can't say for the abit, but I know as of now, the revision 3.3 ds3's should be able to handle 45nm cpu's, which essentially are the same as 65nm with just a different core, but the architecture is the same. As for an older ds3 with bios update, as far as I know, you should be able to do that, but the revision 3.3 is out right now, so after a while only revision 3.3 will be found in stores

oh i see.. thanks for the information anyway :) a very good one!

the p965 chipset looks promising for future proof rather than the 975x one. i think i'm heading to abit ab9-quadgt if there's no new comer motherboard featuring digital pwm. love the layout and features it has though it lacks dual gigabit lan controller..

yeah, but to tell you the truth, dual gigabit means nothing really, I don't get much of a speed increase on my crosshair anyway

have you seen thg's new front page? Come and vote here so we can tell the dude in charge of it what we think about it

Not sure if the revision 3.3 will be able to handle the 45nm cores (Wouldn't count on it), but they are suppose to support 1333MHz FSB for the new 65nm 1333MHz Intel C2D processors coming out Q3 07 (E6x50). The current revision 2.0 gigabyte board only support up to 1066MHz FSB.

Although I have heard that the 45nm will use the same LGA775 socket and will supposedly work better (Just a bigger L1/L2 Cache).

The 45nm cpus are just smaller conroes, that's all, the architecture is the same and so the northbridge requirements should remain the same

vote here on what you think on the new thg front page

yeah.. that's why abit's one gigabite lan is okay for me :)

yeah too for this.. that's something we will find out later in the end of the year and that's quiet long to wait for. hehe..

The ideal use of dual gigabit network port is for Game Server (Transmission Load Balancing and Fail-over) or a Home Gateway (WAN/LAN interface). I'm pretty sure 1000Mbps is all you need for gaming, which is probably why you don't notice anything.

I guess it is a good feature if you plan on using your computer like a router/switch for another computer in the house also.
